Working Papers

The Race and Ethnic Studies Institute offers a variety of workshops and working groups open to faculty and graduate students across disciplines who are engaged in research related to race and ethnicity.

Please note that our workshops are designed for scholars who are specifically geared toward manuscript development.  Those seeking to expand their knowledge of race and ethnicity and its related topics are encouraged to seek out one of the working groups sponsored by RESI and/or the Glasscock Center for Humanities Research.

The Race & Ethnicity Workshop provides faculty and graduate students with an informal and friendly setting to present works in progress (e.g., dissertation proposals or chapters, book prospectuses, article-length manuscripts) and receive constructive feedback. It also provides an opportunity for graduate students to develop closer working relationships with faculty and other students who share their general interest in the scholarly study of race and ethnicity. The workshop features a lively and interactive series of both student and faculty presentations on an alternating basis. Presenters will distribute their work one week prior to the meeting to allow participants sufficient time to prepare comments; at the meeting the presenter will prepare a 15-20 minute presentation that will be followed by Q&A.Unless otherwise noted, all workshop meetings are held on Fridays from 7pm to 9pm off campus. Participants are asked to please indicate their attendance, and bring snacks and beverages.
